Minnesota Timberwolves land Greg Stiemsma; Spike Lee vows to stay loyal to New York Knicks - NBA News Roundup
Minnesota Timberwolves officially sign Greg Stiemsma
The Minnesota Timberwolves continue to add depth to their roster and their latest acquisition is that of the 26 year old Greg Stiemsma, who was claimed as a restricted free agent from the Boston Celtics. The deal was made on Thursday
but the details of the agreement have yet not emerged.
Stiemsma went undrafted in 2008 and after spending some time playing basketball overseas made his way to the Sioux Falls Sky Force of the D-League. The time spent in the D-league was the span when the young centre made the best
progress of his career.
He was named the Defensive player of the Year in the development league in 2010 by averaging 9.1 points, 7.3 rebounds and 3.7 blocks per game which was followed by another season of overseas basketball in Turkey.
Stiemsma came to the Boston Celtics last season and appeared in a total of 55 games wearing the green jersey. He averaged 2.9 points, 3.2 rebounds and 1.6 blocks in those games, and did hint towards wanting to stay in Boston. However
given the financial limitations of the C’s this off season, the franchise could not match the offer on their backup centre.
Spike Lee says he would never ditch the New York Knicks

Whether the New York Knicks become serious title contenders or have trouble just making it to the playoffs like last season, there is one man by the name of Spike Lee who would always be cheering on the Big Apple team.
However, Spike is faced with a dilemma now as the newly found Brooklyn Nets have come into the town.
As loyal a Knicks supporter, as he may be, Spike hails from Brooklyn and now his home town has its own NBA team.
But in a recent interview, Spike has vowed that he would remain a Knicks supporter for life.
"I wish I had a dollar for every time people ask me that — I could finance another film," says Lee, whose new film "Red Hook Summer' is set in Brooklyn. "No, no and no. Can't do that. Can't. I am orange and blue baby."
"...My son is going to be orange and blue, and his son after him. And they are going to bury me in these colors."
