Minnesota Timberwolves looking to bring in Brandon Roy on a two year deal – NBA Update
Minnesota Timberwolves are one of the teams in NBA who are rising through the ranks to achieve being called genuine playoff contenders. They are working on a system which has seen them bring in young players and grown with them over the course of their careers.
Over the course of five years, Timberwolves have seen Kevin Love turn into a complete player and can be considered as one of the best players at the power forward position. Another potential franchise player present among the Wolves ranks is Spanish sensation
Ricky Rubio who was a hit in his first year in the league.
After only just missing out on the playoffs this year, Timberwolves are looking to put together the missing pieces which will help them turn into a team of the playoffs. According to recent reports, Wolves are hoping to lure in Brandon Roy who has shown
intent to come out of retirement in order to pursue his love for basketball.
By offering a two year deal to the three times All-star, Minnesota are definitely making a gamble over a player who was forced into early retirement due to knee issues. However given the amount of impact he had while playing for Portland Trail Blazers, Roy
is a genuinely good option to consider.
Given the fact that normal free agency rules do not apply to Roy who will be coming out of retirement to join any team of his choice, Minnesota can get their hands on a prolific scorer who can help them in their cause of becoming a championship calibre team.
Nevertheless if the deal is made and Roy becomes a part of the Wolves organization, head coach Rick Adelman will have to do some extra homework to make the most of his capabilities. Adelman will be looking to limit the amount of minutes Roy gets on the court
because of him literally having no cartilage in his knees.
Roy may be able to put in some great effort in workouts but how well will he be able to perform over the course of a complete season is one of the key things to keep in mind while assessing his playing time.
