Minnesota Timberwolves send Washington Wizards crashing to their 8th defeat: NBA Recap
After their last performance against the New York Knicks, it looked like Washington Wizards were finally on the right track. Although they failed to win the game but showed some fight which was pleasing to see.
However, in just a matter of two days they have gone back to where they were at the start.
Putting up yet another horrible performance, they lost their 8th consecutive game of the season against Minnesota Timberwolves 92-73.
"There's really not much to say," Washington coach Flip Saunders said. "Disappointment.  Embarrassment. I don't know if words can explain. My job over the next two days is to try to find five guys who can play the right way and
can play with some heart. ... It was bad to watch. It was bad to coach. It was bad to play."
There was just no game plan, no team work and the horrendous episode involving the spat between newly acquired Rashard Lewis and assistant coach Sam Cassell before the game was truly reflecting on the court.
Nick Young and Trevor Booker had 14 points apiece while Andray Blatche and John Wall pounded 10 each.
"It's frustrating. It's sickening. Embarrassing. They booed us; we deserved it. I don't know what to say."
Although Timberwolves were not even that accurate with their shooting tonight but Wizards were simply terrible. They shot 30- for -87 from the floor including 3 for 10 from the downtown and a poor 9-16 from the charity stripe.
Kevin Love led the Timberwolves with 20 points and 16 boards while Derrick Williams had 14 points on 4 for 7 from the three-point range. Wayne Ellington, Ricky Rubio and Luke Ridnour bundled 13 apiece.
Timberwolves finished the first frame with a 3 point lead 20-17 and then carrying the momentum in the next quarter, reeled off a 14-5 burst to get in a commanding position.
And from there, they never looked back.
The fate of the game had already been decided by the end of the third frame as the clueless Wizards were trailing behind 15 points 60-75 and with the way they were playing, a comeback was completely out of question.
Taking advantage of the poor defence and the school level basketball offense from the Wizards, Timberwolves kept attacking and midway through the frame, they boosted their lead to 20 points 89-68.
In second half of the last quarter, both teams froze, however Timberwolves still managed to win the game with a 20 plus lead in the end.
