Minnesota Timberwolves star Kevin Love: I go to court for war – NBA Update
The Minnesota Timberwolves looked like a contender for the NBA playoffs earlier this season as they stringed together some good results. However, the young side looks like it is now running out of steam and, especially after the injury to Spanish import
Ricky Rubio, their playoff challenge seems to be fading away.
One man though is playing with the same intensity, perhaps even more, and continues to wow crowds around the NBA with his splendid displays. Kevin Love doesn’t think believe in taking it easy out on the court, and the forward has now said that when he is
on the court, he believes he is on for war.
Love made the comments in a recent interview, where he also spoke about the toll the condensed NBA season had taken on him and his teammates. His work rate came into discussion, which has been phenomenal, and Kevin gave an insight into his thinking going
into ball games.
“I’ve always had that intensity. I think you’re exactly right, the way I approach a game is like I’m going out there to war. I feel like in order for our team to have the upper hand, I have to play extremely well and I have to bring the rest of the team
with me. That’s how I feel approaching every game. I just want to continue doing that these last fourteen games so we can make that playoff push.” Love said in an interview published at mensfitness.com.
Love’s numbers have been off the charts lately. With the injury to Ricky Rubio, the Timberwolves haven’t really been firing on all cylinders. In the circumstances, Kevin has had to take over extra responsibility, especially in terms of scoring, and he has
done it terrifically well so far.
The power forward is one again averaging a double-double for the season, but so good have his performances been lately that his name came into discussion even for the Most Valuable Player award.
Although his coach, Rick Adelman has suggested Love deserves to be considered for the award, the forward is happy just helping his team win, which is the most important thing.
He has in the past though claimed to be the best power forward in the NBA. In the interview he was asked as to who gave him the toughest competition at the position, the player hardest to play against.
Kevin mentioned Memphis Grizzlies star Zach Randolph, and Portland Trail Blazers star LaMarcus Aldridge, who recently got an All-Star nod, as his worthy challengers.
“When he’s healthy, Zach Randolph for the Memphis Grizzlies has always been somebody that has always been very tough to play against. Also a guy like LaMarcus Aldridge as well.”
