Minnesota Timberwolves star Kevin Love still out, could miss rest of season – NBA Update
The Minnesota Timberwolves suffered a huge blow recently when Kevin Love got hit in the head during an NBA game. The talismanic forward had to be taken off the court and went straight to a hospital, where he was rested for the night.
When the Timberwolves squared off against the Los Angeles Clippers, Love travelled with the team but did not make the final cut. His coach has now confirmed that the player’s status is not clear and he could even miss out the remainder of the Timberwolves
season.
Rick Adelman is one of the most experienced coaches in the NBA, and if he isn’t sure about Love, chances are the player might not be back this season.
"You've got to wait and see. I have no idea," Adelman said about Kevin’s chances of returning this season. "He's got to get back here, have our doctors look at him and see how he feels.”
Rick believed that the condensed season was working against his side, and Love, in the current scenario. With the games coming thick and fast, even being out for a few days would mean that Kevin misses a whole bunch of games, and there aren’t many remaining.
“With the situation we're in right now, if he's out five days he's going to miss three or four games so the season is pretty well gone by then anyway. They'll give us a better inclination of that when he gets back tonight."
The Timberwolves made an impressive start to the season. Kevin Love has been amazing once again this year but the addition of Spanish sensation Ricky Rubio, as well as rookie Derrick Williams, really helped the team move forward.
However all the momentum came to a grinding halt with the season ending injury to Rubio. One player after the other started to get injured since then culminating in the knock to Love. With injuries to arguably their starting five, it is no wonder that the
Timberwolves are out of contention for a playoff spot.
Adelman has been taken aback by the situation to say the least.
"It's just been one thing after the other," Adelman said. “It seems like the way this season has gone, as a coach I took the first 40-something games and saw the progress we made and now I'm seeing it go in the other direction quickly."
The Timberwolves however will already be looking to the future. If they can get Rubio back and healthy before the start of next season, they will have a talented group of players including the Spanish point guard, Derrick Williams, Michael Beasley and Jose
Barea among others.
Spearheaded by the enigmatic love, Minnesota could cause serious damage next year.
