Minnesota Twins' Alex Wimmers injured with elbow ligament – MLB News
Lately news is coming from different sources that Minnesota Twins 2010 first round pick and one of the most shining prospects in Major League Baseball, Alex Wimmers is injured with an elbow ligament.
Twins assistant general manager Rob Antony on the other hand has also confirmed that Alex Wimmers got “very slight tear” in elbow area and team doctors are taking great care of him.
"He's kind of in a holding pattern, not doing too much right now, He is on hold, He's in a stabilizer, and when he was examined, there was a very slight tear in the UCL but it wasn't a surgical situation. So they wanted to put him in a stabilizer and then
re-examine him." said Antony.
Wimmers was considered one of the very best college players at the time of his selection. The Twins management had sent several baseball scouts in the past when they eventually decided that he is the player which their franchise needs at the moment. On scouts’
advice, the Twins top management took him earlier in 2010 amateur draft and later official MLB draft.
Alex, who certainly is a good player and especially at the time of his draft, he was certainly at peak of his game, but last season, he was put on to disabled list playing poorly in his first start.
However, he went on to play in the Minor League. The team management decided that this is the right time for him to play and gain some professional experience playing in the farm system where some Major Leaguers also come to gain some lost momentum.
Plying for Class A Fort Myers Miracle, Wimmers soon established himself a fine player and earned promotion to play in Class AA New Britain. He almost pitched 40 innings and showed the Twins Major League management the level of skills he possesses.
Though he did not play well in the Rock Cats, but still remained in the loop hole to bounce back with style. Now he is under observation by the team doctors and if things went well for him and he recovered soon, the Twins will be happy on his coming back
to the field.
