Minnesota Twins Brian Duensing reflects on his holiday plans- MLB News
Minnesota Twins’ relief pitcher Brian Duensing is a happy man as this holiday season is special for him. It is the first holiday season for Brian since the birth of his baby daughter McKenna who turns one on January 5. He and his wife are thrilled and are
loving every moment with their daughter.
‘’We're stoked. It's fun to watch her react and interact with the Christmas tree and all that. It's still all new to her,’’ Brian said in an interview to the mlb.com.
He said that he suggested to his wife that they get their daughter an empty box for Christmas as she would even be happy playing with that and had a bit of a laugh about it.
He finds his daughter’s little actions refreshing and says that it is fun to watch her in action. For now, little McKenna is in the learning curve and is discovering much about the world around her and reacting to it.
‘’We're really excited. It's fun watching her. Right now it's snowing, and she's up by the window, watching and screaming at it. So it's still new to her, and it's refreshing to see it in the eyes of someone so young,’’ Brian Said.
His wife Lisa also grew up near the same area as Brian did in Nebraska and has family living nearby. It makes the holidays even more fun as the couple gets a chance to meet the families on both sides during the holidays.
Although most people look to be in warmer places for holidays, the cold weather definitely doesn’t bother Brian and his wife and perhaps gets them warmer as they get a chance to be closer to their loved ones.
Duensing is aware that he is blessed to be able to be with his family during good times, something that a lot of families do not get that chance to do. He is glad that his family is closely knitted one and spending the holidays together with the loved ones
is a lot of fun for Brian.
‘’It's great. It's easy on everybody. A lot of families don't get to see each other during the holidays, so to be so close is nice. It's really fun that way,’’ he said.
He said that he generally visits his paternal grandparents for the Christmas day and spends the Christmas Eve at the place of his in-laws who do not live too far away.
It is indeed great to see that family values are maintained by some when most people in this time and age have their relationships dictated by their material pursuits. It is a great example for everyone to see and follow. We hope that Brian and his family
have a tremendous time during the holidays.
