Minnesota Twins GM Terry Ryan optimistic about Justin Morneau’s recovery from wrist problems
The Minnesota Twins general manager Terry Ryan is showing some great optimism on first-baseman Terry Ryan’s concussion and wrist problems while saying he will be coming back before the training sessions.
Recently, he said in the media and told reporters about his expected recovery potentially before the training camps. He also said that back home Morneau is working hard to get back on the time.
Ryan added, “He's doing OK in my book. He's been in the ballpark here this past week every morning. He's on about the right schedule. He'll start to swing a bat here in probably another 10 days to two weeks. I wouldn't get too concerned about exactly what came out of that article. I think he just stated what exactly is going on and the history of it. He's departed for Phoenix but this past week, he was in the ballpark every morning. He's been in there for about four or five hours a day.”
Morneau is still suffering post concussion syndrome and wrist problems. He sustained a concussion in July 2010 pulling out from the rest of the season. Though, he recovered later and played in 2011 MLB season, but later at the end of the season, he once again felt mild concussion-like symptoms resting behind the entire season with almost 69 games to play.
For Morneau fans, this statement from Twins’ GM is very uplifting. He is a good player, having career .281 hitting average along with 185 home runs, 709 RBIs and .353 OBP while last year he achieved .227 hitting average along with four homers, 30 RBIs and .285 OBP.
Justin Morneau’s stats show that he is one of the best players at first-base positions and if he stays fit in 2012, he will certainly play a vital role in the Twins results next season.
Last year too, the Twins lost too many games at the end of regular season as they do not had any backup player at first-base position. Many inside MLB sources are saying that Morneau is also very excited to play in the upcoming season. He is working hard and now showing full confidence to make a drastic comeback.
