Minnesota Twins: Regular Season Results – MLB July 2011
The Twins made a decent start to the month of July 2011 as they hammered Milwaukee Brewers 6-2 in the opening game of their three-match series. Although they lost a very tight second game of the series 7-8, the Twins bounced back strongly in the third and
final game to register an emphatic 9-7 victory.
Showing some great fighting skills and determination, the Twins also improved their win-loss record in the regular season to 36-46. Minnesota Twins displayed some high quality play in their next series against Tampa Bay Rays as well. Crushing the Rays 7-0
in the first game of the series, the Twins looked like they were on their way to turn things around for them in the American League Championships. Brian Duensing came back strongly after making a shaky start to put his side in a winning position. He put in
a brilliant performance to guide his team throughout the game.
"It didn't start as well as I wanted it to," Duensing said. "But the defense made some unbelievable plays that kept me in it. Next thing you know we're putting across runs against David Price."
It was certainly a confidence booster for the right hander who had conceded 14 runs in his previous four starts. Duensing admitted that he has not been doing well lately. He has struggled recently from a lack of form.
Clinching a narrow 3-2 victory in Game 2, Twins earned another well deserved series victory. They continued to impress the critics as they outclassed Chicago White Sox 3-1 in their next series in the ALCS. Anthony Swarzak put up a brilliant show as he allowed
only four hits and one run in game four. Striking out five and walking two to help his side beat Chicago White Sox for an incredible 29th time in 36 games.
"You call it dominance," Ron Gardenhire said. "But it's like a lot of one-run games, a lot of one- and two-run games, anything can happen at the end. We're finding a way right now to get it done."
The Twins maintained their great form in the series against Kansas City Royals as well to improve their win-loss record further to 44-49. It was an astonishing achievement after making a poor start to the regular season. Although Minnesota Twins suffered
a humiliating 1-3 loss against Detroit Tigers, they concentrated even harder to clinch a series victory against one of the hottest teams of the season, the Texas Rangers. The Twins put in a tremendous effort to take the series against the Rangers. They looked
and performed well against one of the top teams in the League.
The Twins ended the season with a decent 50-58 win-loss record as they turned the tables to stay in the hunt for the World Series.
