Minnesota Twins: Regular Season Results – MLB June 2011
Minnesota Twins put up a much better show in the month of June 2011 as they bagged 15 victories in 24 games they played in. After making a poor start to the regular season, the Twins regrouped themselves to restore some of the lost pride.
Despite losing their first game of the month against Detroit Tigers 4-2, the Twins kept pushing for a victory. On June 2 they grabbed their first win of the month with an excellent 8-2 performance against Kansas City Royals. Picking up his first victory
in nearly two years, Anthony Swarzak helped his side get things back on track. Team Manager Gardenhire commented on Swarzak performance,
"Swarzak hung in there." Gardenhire said. "He wasn't perfect by any means, but he battled through a lot. He was up in the zone an awful lot, but made pitches when he had to and got us deep into the game."
With momentum on their side, Minnesota Twins crushed Kansas City Royals in each game to secure an incredible 4-0 victory in the series. Brian Duensing, who had not won in six weeks, pitched eight sharp innings to lead the injury-wracked Twins to their maiden
4-0 victory in almost four years.
"A really good performance by Mr. Duensing," Minnesota manager Ron Gardenhire said. "With the heat out there, to last that long was pretty impressive."
It was a great effort by a team that was struggling to achieve their goal right from the start of the regular season. Team Manager was quite pleased with the way everybody entered the equation. Gardenhire lauded his team’s effort and he aimed to give similar
results in the upcoming games as well.
Gardenshire went on to comment that some players have to build confidence and put in good performances when other players might be out for some reason or another. He believes that each player has their own particular role to play in the team. Each player
should back their team-mates and work as a solid unit on the field.
The Twins continued their impressive run in the American League Championships against a red hot Texas as well. Although Texas Rangers were huge favourites for the clash, Twins played out of their skins to clinch a 3-1 victory in the series. Francisco Liriano
found his form just at the right time for the Twins as he allowed only one run in eight innings. Minnesota Twins ended the month on a positive note as well with a stunning 2-1 victory over the struggling Los Angeles Dodgers.
Minnesota put in a good performance in June and was looking to keep their winning momentum going as they grew in confidence. The talent on the team was now starting to flourish, bringing positive results against some of the top teams in the League.
