Minnesota Twins beat Kansas City Royals 3-0 at the Kauffman Stadium – MLB news
Minnesota Twins continued their resurgence as they beat the Kansas City Royals 3-0 at the Kauffman Stadium on Tuesday, June 4, 2013.
It was not the most exciting game offensively as none of the teams was able to get a big runs. The Minnesota Twins’ pitcher Samuel Deduno posted his second win of the season after throwing down six plus scoreless innings and gave away only three hits.
Twins’ manager Ron Gardenhire was pleased with how the pitcher controlled his pitches and did well in the game. He said, “He has great stuff. The ball is moving all over the place.”
Samuel himself was pleased with how the ball came out of his hand and he was able to drive a lot of confidence from the performance. He was able to control the hits and they were mostly groundouts.
“Everything was working,” Deduno said. “My fastball had movement, and I've got confidence in it. They hit it, but I got a lot of ground balls.”
The Twins were able to score once in the fourth with a Ryan Doumit home-run and twice in the fifth courtesy of RBI singles by Josh Willingham and Ryan Doumit.
Left fielder Josh Willingham believed that there is a need of maintaining a focus on the game. Concentration is the key without which success cannot be had in Josh’s opinion.
“We just need to focus on continuing to play well,” Willingham said. “Everything will take care of itself in the end, but there are things we can do to improve. That's where our concentration has to be right now.”
He also felt that good pitching and hitting at the right time were crucial parts of success. Willingham felt that it is what the team has been doing lately and looking to win every game.
“The recipe for success is good pitching and timely hitting,” Willingham said. “We've been doing that pretty well lately. We're coming out every day expecting to win.”
It is great to see that the Twins are playing well after a dreadful ten game losing skid. They will certainly be looking to continue the positive approach and perform to the best of their abilities.
