Minnesota Twins beat Milwaukee Brewers 8-6 at Target Field – MLB News
Minnesota Twins made it 4-for-4 against the Milwaukee Brewers as they beat them 8-6 on Thursday, May 30, 2013 at the Target Field. The team has now won five of the last six ballgames in sharp contrast to their
ten games losing skid earlier in the month.
Kyle Lohse, a former Twins’ pitcher, was at the receiving end from the Minnesota ballclub as they clobbered him for no less than four home-runs in the first four innings. It was Kyle’s first time in seven years
since he was let gone by the Twins and one that he will remember for all the wrong reasons.
Manager, Ron Gardenhire, was pleased by the great hitting show put up by his boys as they out batted their opponents in the game. The manager got a bit carried away when explaining the kind of hitting that was
done.
"Guys were swinging pretty good," Gardenhire said. "The ball was jumping here pretty decent. Parm hit a bomb, and Joe, the ball he hit usually doesn't carry, but it was carrying tonight. He hit it good, and same
with Doumit, who hit a bomb, and Dozier, who hit a rocket. So we got a hold of them pretty good."
The scoring got underway in the bottom of the third innings when Chris Parmelee homered to right field. Things got out of control in the fourth innings; however, as the Twins whacked another three long balls
to add to the problems for Brewers.
Brian Dozier and Joe Mauer went deep back-to-back, with Ryan Doumit then hitting a two-run home-run to make the lead 5-0 for the Twins.
The Brewers did make a strong comeback when they hit six runs in three innings but were unable to get two runs that were required to force a bottom of the ninth. The Twins scored three more runs after the home-run
spree which ensured that they did not give away the fantastic start they had to the game. Interestingly, both teams had a dozen hits each.
Ron was also excited by the winning streak that the Twins are enjoying after severe jolts early on. He has been in the business in long enough to know the importance of winning games and winning them in groups.
"When it gets up to 10, a lot of guys haven't been through that," Gardenhire said. "It's deflating not to be shaking hands, so to be able to come out and get some wins and go back-to-back-to-back-to-back is pretty
cool."
The Twins can take heart from quite an impressive show that they have provided everyone with. They have done well to get over the bad patch and now it is entirely up to them to carry on in the same fashion for
the rest of the season.
