Minnesota Twins beaten by Kansas City Royals 3-4 – MLB news
Minnesota Twins took another embarrassing loss in front of their home crowd as they lost to the Kansas City Royals 3-4 at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida on Wednesday, July 10 in Game 3 of their four match series of the 2013 Major League Baseball
regular season.
It was an amazing win for the Rays who have been relentless over the last couple of weeks. With their win against the Twins, the Royals improved their win-loss record to 52-40 to consolidate their position at the top of the American League Central Division
standings table. A lot of credit should be given to the Manager Joe Maddon for showing faith in this team. The Tigers dominated the AL Central in the first two months of the season but the Royals improved their game play with each passing day to stay alive.
And here they are now, with an incredible 53-40 record and placed first on the league standings table. It will be interesting to see if Maddon and company can continue the good work to make it to the playoffs.
“It's just a formula for success in baseball when you do those different things,” manager Joe Maddon said after the Tampa Bay Rays won their season-best seventh straight game on Wednesday night, beating the struggling Minnesota Twins 4-3 on Ben Zobrist's
RBI single with two outs in the 13th inning.
“That's pretty basic, good stuff that everybody attempts to achieve,” Maddon added. “But that's why we're winning as many games as we have.”
Starting pitcher Jeremy Hellickson played a key role in deciding the outcome of the clash as he allowed just six hits and three runs while striking out eight batters. However, it was the closer Cesar Ramos who walked away with his second win of the season
after he managed to hold off the Twins in the final inning. Yunel Escobar and Ben Zobrist made useful contributions with the bat to help the Royals prevail.
