Minnesota Twins demolished Pittsburgh Pirates 10-0 – MLB Spring Training

Minnesota Twins demolished Pittsburgh Pirates 10-0 at the Hammond Stadium in Fort Myers, Florida on Sunday, March 18 in their Grapefruit League clash of the 2012 Major League Baseball Spring Training Session.
For Twins, Jamey Carroll batted in two RBI’s and a double, helping his team dominate the Pirates. The hitter will be very pleased to put up a solid show after his constant failures on the plate. Francisco Liriano was the start of the show for the Twins as
he struck out six and walked one in five scoreless innings.
"I couldn't tell you the numbers, but I knew that I only had one hit, so I don't know how many at-bats, but obviously you want to play well and do as good as you can regardless of how early," Carroll said. "I'm just thankful to be able to kind of contribute
a little bit today."
"Limiting walks, trying to go deeper in games, throw less pitches per batter and trying to throw first-pitch pitches for strikes," he said. "I hope they swing early like they were today. And I'm locating my fastball better than last year, too."
The Twins will be delighted with the way they have bounced back in the last few games. After making a poor start to their Spring Training campaign, the Twins were looking to salvage their pride by ending the spring on a high note. It seems Ron Gardenhire
and his men have been working extremely hard to put things on the right track.
With their win over the Pirates on Sunday, the Twins improved their win-loss record to 10-8. It will be interesting to see if the Twins can show similar determination and fighting abilities during the regular season.
The Pirates, on the other, have no one to blame except for themselves. They wasted large number of scoring opportunities, which played a crucial in deciding the outcome of the game. Clint Hurdle’s team showed great improvement last season as they went over
.500 win-loss record for the first time in more than a decade. Pittsburgh’s fans seem to have faith in their team now and they will be hoping for their team reach the post season in 2012.
