Minnesota Twins edge Los Angeles Angels in a thriller 10-9 – MLB Update
Minnesota Twins edged Los Angeles Angels 10-9 at the Target Field in Minneapolis, Minnesota on Thursday, April 12 in a thrilling regular season game of the 2012 Major League Baseball.
For the Twins, Justin Morneau and Joe Mauer put up a great show. The former MVP’s hit home runs at crucial times to help the Twins find the perfect formula for victory.
Morneau, who has made a comeback from his injuries this season, hit a tie breaking home run in the eight innings to help the Twins come back from behind to pocket a thrilling win.
"That feeling when it comes off the bat and you know it's gone, there's nothing like that in baseball," Morneau said.
Mauer also played a key role, hitting a three run shot off Dan Haren in the fifth to reduce Angels’ 6-0 lead and give the Twins glimpses of hope amid their frustration.
"We're going to need to get our starters maybe over that little hump and then try to get our roles in the bullpen a little more nailed down," Mike Scioscia said. "Our guys tried. We just couldn't shut the door when we needed it."
"We know we can do it," Mauer said. "Maybe everybody else doesn't."
The Twins will be extremely delighted with the way they have bounced back in the last two games of their three match series against the Angels.
After losing all three games of their previous three match series, it seems the Twins are finally settling down. Showing great determination, fighting spirit and mental strength, the Twins secured a nail biting 6-5 win in second game of the series.
The way the Twins handled the pressure in the decider shows just why they are one of the most unpredictable teams in Major League Baseball. It will be interesting to see if the interim Manager Terry Ryan and company can produce similar performances in the
upcoming games.
The Angles, on the other hand, will be disappointed with the outcome of their last two games. Despite coming close to winning two of three games against the Twins, they were unable to get over the winning line.
