Minnesota Twins expect Justin Morneau to play as designated hitter – MLB News
The Minnesota Twins have started their preparations for the next Major League Baseball season and pushing some of their players to do well in the upcoming year.
Though, the Twins could not do well in the last season, but late in the 2011 regular season, they won several interesting games with good margins. While now, it is the right time to start from scratch and prepare a team, who can out do their opponents with
consistent performances.
That is the reason, why the Twins’ manager Ron Gardenhire has stated in the media regarding one of their very talented players Justin Moreau and expected him to make a comeback with full thrust as designated hitter. Morneau is still not hundred percent fit
and likely to recover just before the 2012 season. The Twins management is worried about the state of his health and commenting in the media also to encourage him.
Twins’ manager Gardenhire has officially said, “One of the things Terry (Ryan, the Twins' GM) and I talked about is making sure before we get too deep in this thing what were going to do with Morny, Where he is going to play, if it is DH, Morny has to eventually
tell us what's right for him or I'll make the decision for him and we will go from there.”
Morneau, who has played his entire career with the Minnesota Twins, only able to play a total of 69 games last season. He was carrying a concussion when he entered into the 2011 regular season since being hit in 2010. His neck stiffness along with wrist
fracture and concussion problem barred him from the baseball field for over seven months. This is the main reason why all the Twins management and roster is behind him to make a good came-back and start winning games for the franchise.
For many baseball experts, Morneau is currently one of the very best players in the Major League. He has played for a certain team all-his career but also won many games for them. He has been also regarded as someone who does not go for the money, instead
team loyalty.
This was proved when in the last season, many MLB franchises including the New York Yankees, Milwaukee Brewers, Los Angeles Dodgers and Florida Marlins offered him good money to play for them but he not only refused to play for them but he also assured the
Minnesota Twins that he will not be leaving them any time soon.
Morneau in the position of designated hitter can possibly provide some much needed impetus in the Twins’ offence. His impact in the team will be exciting to watch in the upcoming 2012 regular season.
