Minnesota Twins flatten Tampa Bay Rays 19-4 – MLB Spring Training
Minnesota Twins flattened Tampa Bay Rays 19-4 at the Hammond Stadium in Fort Myers, Florida on Saturday, March 24 in their Grapefruit League encounter of the 2012 Major League Baseball Spring Training session.
Justin Morneau looked in supreme form as he hit his first two spring training home runs of the year to help the Twins crush the Rays. Winner of 2006 American League Most Valuable Player Award, Morneau played in only a handful of games in the last two seasons due to various form of injuries. He will be looking to stay health and fit for the entire season to change the course of his career.
"The swing is starting to feel a lot better," Morneau said. "It's not going to be a day like that every day, but you have good days, and it's good to have one of those days now and get the confidence going."
"We're all competitive," he added. "We're all athletes. We've all been successful in the past, otherwise none of us would be in this room. Obviously you want to be there at once, but I think it helps that I've been around for a while now and know that, if I'm healthy, I trust myself that it's going to come."
The Twins made the most of available opportunities in a game that was completely dominated by them. Showing their depth in hitting department of the game, the Twins posted a huge total on the board. It will not be wrong to say that the Twins took complete advantage of Tampa Bay’s unforced errors to establish complete control over the contest.
The Twins have given their fans a lot to cheer about since the start of 2012 Spring Training. With 13 wins in twenty three games, they have tasted success more often than not. The Fans will be eager to see them performing consistently throughout the season.
Rays, on the other hand, will be shocked at the final scoreline. They were dominated by the Twins in almost all areas of the game and it will be safe to say that they had no answers to the onslaught against them.
