Minnesota Twins hammered by Milwaukee Brewers 4-16 – MLB Update
Minnesota Twins lost their way once more as they received a 4-16 hammering at the hands of Milwaukee Brewers at Miller Park in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on Sunday, May 20 in the finale of their three match series of the 2012 Major League Baseball regular season.
Twins’ fans were expecting their team to dominate the Brewers in the finale after they displayed some high quality baseball skills in the first two games. The offence made the most of available opportunities in the opener to secure a comfortable 11-3 win
for the Twins. With momentum on their side, Terry Ryan and his men earned a hard fought 5-4 win in the second game to earn a rare series win at Miller Park.
Considering Minnesota’s performances on Friday and Saturday, they were expected to complete an emphatic series sweep on Sunday’s evening but that did not turn out to be the case.
The Brewers made their rivals run for their money, adopting an extremely aggressive approach right from the start. Jonathan Lucroy enjoyed his first opportunity as a clean-up hitter for the Brewers as he homered twice with career high seven RBI’s to set
up an easy win for his team.
"Coming up through high school, college and the minor leagues, I was a (No.) 3-, 4-hitter," Lucroy said. "I'm comfortable with it. I've been there before."
"When I got here, obviously with someone like Prince Fielder and Ryan Braun in (Nos.) 3-4, you're not going to be in there," he further added answering a question. "If he calls me to be there, I'll be there. If not, whatever."
"I'm just happy to help my team win any way I can," Lucroy said in a post game interview. "I'm just trying to have good ABs and hit the ball hard somewhere."
Corey Hart also had three hits that also included his ninth home run of the season. Starting pitcher Zack Greinke had another successful outing against the Twins as he improved to 14-0 at Miller Park. Tossing up six strong innings, he played a key role in
deciding the outcome of the clash.
