Minnesota Twins’ head batting Coach Joe Vavra confident ahead of 2012 Major League season
The entire Minnesota Twins roster including management and coaches are heading into a new Major League Baseball season with full energy and great optimism.
Lately their head batting coach Joe Vavra has mentioned in the media that his hitters are ready to take the challenge and preparing hard to achieve that challenge that will ensure a good consistent season.
Though the team’s general manager has rotated the starting line-up but he still believes that the Twins’ experienced players know the importance of showing good results next season and will be playing according to plan. He also explained as how two to three key players can make a real difference in any team’s results.
“Big time turnover, we’ve lost some good players there,” Vavra said. “Some good teammates and some very good players as well so it’s gonna be an adjustment. They’ve been there before (in the American League), Carroll’s been in the American League and so has Willingham with Oakland last year so I got a good look at Willingham. I’ve got a lot of video on them; I’ve got all the data I need. Not much you can do as far as while it’s going on in the standings and trying to reverse what’s happened.”
According to Vavra, moving players to some other position might cause the Twins to not perform at their highest level. But at the same time he also recognises the fact of rotating the line-up to explore every player’s ability to perform at different positions with their full potential.
With every reason of rotating the players, Vavra somehow also knows the late turn-over is good for the Twins in the long run. The Twins, who previously were considered as a good offensive team in the American League, has not performed well for the past two years.
Lately the Twins entire 40-man roster has reported to Spring Training and are planning to start a new beginning having in mind a clear idea of showing a good fighting spirit next season. It will be interesting to see how the Twins’ management goes about their prepared plan and gets some positive output from it.
