Minnesota Twins humiliated by Chicago White Sox 5-12 at Target Field – MLB Update
Minnesota Twins were humiliated by the Chicago White Sox 5-12 at Target Field in Minneapolis, Minnesota on Wednesday, June 27 in the finale of their three match series of the 2012 Major League Baseball regular season.
Chicago, once again, was the superior of the two teams as they dominated their opponents in almost all department of the game. The win also allowed them to consolidate their position at the top of American League Central Divisions standings and they are
now three games ahead of second placed Cleveland Indians.
Twins, on the other hand, took another embarrassing loss in front of their home crowd. The offence has remained the weakest link in their game play since the start of the season and it will be interesting to see if Manager Ron Gardenhire and company can
bring some consistency in their results to give their fans something to cheer about.
"It's something that you think about, but you try not to pay attention to it. My focus is on this team and what I'm doing here," Chicago’s Chris Sale said.
"He's got some funk to it, and his breaking ball, for it to be a strike it pretty much has to start behind you," Twins’ first baseman Justin Morneau said. "I think he's got a pretty good feel for that also. When he needs to get a strike with it, he can.
When he's ahead in the count and he feels like he needs you to chase, he's also good at that one."
Starting pitcher Nick Blackburn had a forgettable time on the mound on Wednesday evening as he took his fifth loss of the season. His ERA also ballooned to 7.74 after allowing nine hits and six runs in five wavered innings. The right hander will be hoping
to regroup to turn things around on his next appearance.
Short-stop Brian Dozier hit his third home-run of the season in the fifth inning to put Minnesota on the board. Ben Revere also made his presence felt as he hit a sacrifice fly to left in the sixth inning to score the second run for the Twins.
Darin Mastroianni and Trevor Plouffe also made useful contributions in the eighth and the ninth but the White Sox held on to their lead comfortably to close out the contest.
