Minnesota Twins humiliated by Los Angeles Angels 3-8 – MLB Update
Minnesota Twins were humiliated by Los Angeles Angels 3-8 at Target Field in Minneapolis, Minnesota on Sunday, May 6 in the opening game of their three match series of the 2012 Major League Baseball regular season.
Angels’ starting pitcher Jered Weaver put up a fine pitching performance as he allowed just three hits in six solid innings. After pitching four scoreless innings, he gave up Minnesota’s first run in the fifth.
Twins’ loss to the Angels on Sunday evening was their 21st of the season. Contrastingly, they have managed to grab only seven innings. Baseball is unpredictable and it will be exciting to see if they can fight back in the upcoming months.
"I just felt gassed there a little bit," Weaver said. "Obviously I'm one to kind push through stuff and ask to go one more, but I don't know if it was mentally draining or physically draining. I don't know what it was but I just felt a little gassed out there towards the end of the game."
"Even though his pitch count wasn't high, he just didn't seem like he was in sync for most of the night," Angels manager Mike Scioscia said.
With their win, the Angels improved their win-loss record to 13-17. Los Angeles will be very pleased with the way they have fought back since the start of this month. They looked on their knees early this season but with each passing game, the Angels have improved their game play.
It will not be wrong to say that Los Angeles has the required firepower and quality in their offence and bullpen to beat any MLB team. Additionally, they have the ability to fight back from any position, which certainly makes them a threat to other teams in the American League Western Division. It will be interesting to see if the Angels can give similar performances throughout the season to impress skipper Mike Scioscia.
Twins, once again, looked short of answers and they were punished hard for their throwing errors. Albert Pujols, in particular, took complete advantage of Twins’ mistakes in an effort to get back into form.
