Minnesota Twins humiliated by Texas Rangers 0-8 – MLB Update
Texas Rangers hammered the Minnesota Twins 8-0 with another offensive outburst at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington, Texas on Friday, August 24 in second game of their four match series of the 2012 Major League Baseball regular season.
Starting pitcher Samuel Deduno had one of the worst nights of his career after he gave up 11 hits and seven runs in just five innings to take his fourth loss of the season.
His counterpart from Texas, Matt Harrison produced a match winning performance, allowing just two hits with five strike-outs in eight effective innings. Adrian Beltre continued his excellent hitting form as he smacked a home-run to left in the fifth inning.
"Harrison, definitely," Beltre said. "He was terrific. He came out throwing strikes, hitting the corners, using the defense. He's been solid all year. We expect to have a good outing from him, but today was something special."
"Pretty much dominated by the young left-hander (Harrison) over there. He pretty much ate us up," manager Ron Gardenhire said. "We were pretty much a non-factor in the game today, they pretty much dominated."
"I guess I got a little too excited right there. I still feel like I made a pretty good pitch to (Plouffe)," said Harrison.
Rangers dominated their opponent right from the start of the contest. The offence in particular looked in hot form, creating all sorts of problems for Twins’ pitching rotation. With their win, the Rangers took 2-0 series lead and also consolidated their
position at the top of American League West Division standings.
Credit should be given to the Manager Ron Gardenhire who used his resources superbly this season. It will not wrong to say that the Rangers are the favourites to win this years’ World Series title.
Twins, on the other hand, paid heavily for their errors on the field. Their defence, in particular, was very weak and Texas Rangers took complete advantage of opportunities that were presented to them. Twins may be out of the playoffs race, they will be
hoping to bring some consistency in their results to end the season on a winning note.
