Minnesota Twins keep out Philadelphia Phillies 11-7 – MLB Spring Training

Minnesota Twins continued their excellent form as they shutout Philadelphia Phillies 11-7 at the Hammond Stadium in Fort Myers, Florida on Wednesday, March 28 in their Grapefruit League encounter of the 2012 Major League Baseball Spring Training Session.
Justin Morneau will be very pleased with his performance in a game that was quite competitive. It seems the designated hitter position is working out well for him as he put up yet another strong show to help his team secure 11-7 win over Philadelphia Phillies.
Going 3 for 4 including a two run home run, Morneau showed just why he is an asset for the Twins. If the striker can continue his sensational form throughout the season, he can certainly take his team to the post season.
"We keep him healthy down here and go from there," Twins manager Ron Gardenhire said. "See how we go when we get closer to opening day. I'm not worried about him playing first base. He takes groundballs and does all those things. I'm not worried about it.
You just have to remember that, at one point or another this summer, he'll play first base."
Not many would have predicated Morneau to be so successful at DH position before the start of Spring Training. However, for the last couple of weeks, Morneau is showing the level of his comfort at his newly assigned position.
Morneau played only a handful of games the past season due to a wrist injury. In fact, he has missed as many as 174 games over the last two years. He will be looking to avoid any further injuries this season to fulfil his immense potential. Morneau has given
the Twins’ fans a lot to cheer about since the start of Spring Training.
Going 7 for fourteen with three homers and a double, Morneau is making inroads after making a shaky start to his spring campaign. The former American League Most Valuable Player Award winner, Morneau will be hoping to give consistent results throughout this
season to change the course of his career. The Twins, on the other hand, will be very pleased to see him in form again.
