Minnesota Twins left fielder Josh Willingham playing impressive – MLB Update
The Minnesota Twins left fielder Josh Willingham is playing extremely well in this Major League Baseball season and proving his place in the roster.
So far in three regular series against the Baltimore Orioles along with Los Angeles Angels and Texas Rangers, Willingham has played tremendously well and went with a balanced game.
Though overall team performance of the Twins is not much appreciative as they lost seven out of nine games they have played, but still their left fielder Willingham has been showing a power packed game.
Willingham, who is an eight-year veteran and former Florida Marlins, Washington Nationals and Oakland Athletics’ player, certainly playing well and hitting energetically.
So far he has hit four home runs with a hitting average of .419 along with seven RBIs and .514 OBP. Some experts believe that Willingham possesses the abilities of hitting elevated 108 home runs a season.
Willingham said after the game against the Angles which they won by 10-9 on Thursday, “I'm keeping it simple, trying to see it and hit it. Usually that's the method that works the best. Trying to do too much, just keep it simple."
Later his teammate Justin Morneau said for Willingham, "He's as strong as anyone I've ever played with, He's the kind of hitter sort of built for this park, sort of a dead pull right-handed hitter, and he's shown that so far. He keeps doing that, I think
we'll win some games."
The only player who is struggling at the moment is pitcher Francisco Liriano, but manager Ron Gardenhire still pushing him hard saying, "[Liriano's] just got to enjoy the game a little bit more when he's out there and have a little more fun, Right now it
looks like he's pressing."
In the meanwhile, and contrary to Willingham’s decent performances, the Twins are trying hard to catch-up their seven recent defeats with some good wins.
The game against the Angels, where the Twins batters were ahead of their opponents, showed some lively hitting winning the game handsomely despite the firing pitching lineup of South Los Angeles baseball franchise.
However, the Twins management is also feeling much better and believing that they have a fare chance now to outdo their tough opponents in the later stages of ongoing Major League Baseball competition.
