The mega star of Minnesota Twins, Harmon Killebrew is diagnosed with esophageal cancer. The Hall of Fame slugger recently talked with the reporters and revealed his condition. The once immovable hitter now battles with a new opposition.
At the age of 74, Killebrew is regarded as baseball’s shining mavericks. He was able to talk about his illness and told the press that he was getting treated by a group of professional doctors at Mayo Clinic.
Killebrew was exceptionally attentive and consistent in his role as a prime time hitter. He ranks 11th in the all time home runs list with 573 runs. The power slugger played most of his career with the Washington Senators, the Twins and the Kansas
City Royals. He featured in the American League All-Star team 11 times and was crowned with the 1969 American League Most Valuable Player title. While talking to media about his life-threatening illness, the legendary player said that he had faith in his doctors
and the medical institution.
"The Mayo Clinic is one of the largest and most experienced medical centres treating esophageal cancer in the world," Killebrew said. "In the past decade, they have made tremendous advances in the treatment of this disease."
Even though the condition is challenging for Harmon and his wife, Nita, the couple believe a full recovery is still a possibility. His loyal fans are sticking to the power hitter, as he struggles for the most crucial battle of his life. Moreover, the Minnesota
Twins are also extending their best wishes to Harmon and his family. They issued a statement recently and pointed out the team’s support behind the slugger. For many supporters out there in the country, Harmon was a beacon of hope and marvel when he took the
field.
"Harmon Killebrew is a great man," the Twins said on Thursday morning. "The collective heart of the Twins family goes out to him and Nita as they begin the battle against this cancer. Harmon is universally loved, and our thoughts and prayers are with him
and Nita throughout this ordeal. We ask that everyone send prayers Harmon's way as he begins the road to recovery."

that honour. The fabled batter was a shining star for the team and in his 22-year career; Harmon accomplished a lot for himself and his team.
