Minnesota Twins lose to Chicago White Sox 2-3 – MLB Update
Minnesota Twins were defeated by Chicago White Sox 2-3 in a thrilling encounter at Target Field in Minneapolis, Minnesota on Tuesday, June 26 in the second game of their three match series of the 2012 Major League Baseball regular season.
Manager Ron Gardenhire will be very disappointed with the result of the game but the Twins can still take several positives out of the match that was played on an extremely positive note.
Starting pitcher Liam Hendriks pitched effectively into the seventh inning, allowing just three runs and five hits. However, despite his valuable effort, the Twins were unable to find winning ways.
Hendricks has now lost five straight games this season. Although Hendricks has mostly struggled with his fastballs and curveballs, he has also been unlucky on a few occasions. He will be looking to put up a strong show on his next appearance to change the
course of his destiny.
Credit should also be given to Jamey Carroll who handled his nerves brilliantly under pressure in the bottom of the ninth. With the White Sox leading 3-0, he singled to right and Justin Morneau scored to reduce the lead but apart from Carroll none of the
hitters could cope with Addison Reed’s top quality throwing skills.
"You try to have a short-term memory, just go out there and live in the present and make pitches," said Floyd, who won for the first time in nine games against Minnesota. "It was good to go out and play well for the team."
"Just having better command and not getting balls in the middle of the plate," White Sox manager Robin Ventura said. "If you get anything in the middle of the plate in a hitters' count, guys are hitting it. Tonight he was able to stay away from the middle
of the plate and work his way out of innings."
Chicago’s relief pitcher Reed will be a relieved man after he picked up his 10th save of the season. However, the star was Gavin Floyd who struck-out nine in seven shut-out innings to help the White Sox level series 1-1 on Tuesday evening. The
White Sox will be looking to carry their winning momentum forward and build some confidence in their line-up.
