Minnesota Twins lose to New York Yankees 3-8 – MLB Update
Minnesota Twins lost to New York Yankees 3-8 at the Yankee Stadium in New York, NY on Tuesday, April 17 in the second game of a four game series of the 2012 Major League Baseball regular season.
Yankees’ ace C.C. Sabathia made a strong come back after making an ordinary start to his 2012 regular season. Allowing only three runs on four hits in just over innings, Sabathia played a key role in deciding the outcome of the clash.
Sabathia retired 13 in a row after the third to help the Yankees take control of the game. He will be looking to give similar results consistently to earn Yankees’ fans respect. Chris Stewart made a useful contribution with his bat, adding three RBI’s.
"Not only one of my best nights, but it was in Yankee Stadium of all places, and I'm wearing pinstripes," Sabathia said. "It's awesome. Definitely one I'm not going to forget."
Minnesota’s pitcher Francisco Liriano suffered his second loss of the season.
"Nothing is bothering me. I'm 100 per cent healthy," he said. "I'm just missing my spots and pitching behind the count and you get hurt, especially with hitters like that."
"I said my piece and I got dejected, and then ejected," Twins’ Manager Ron Gardenhire said.
The Twins made an aggressive start to the series with a comfortable 7-3 win in the opening game but they were unable to convert some easy scoring opportunities in the game on Tuesday night and paid the ultimate price. With two more games remaining in the
series, the Twins have everything to play for. Manager Ron Gardenhire will be hoping that his guys execute their game plan well enough to win the next game.
The Yankees, on the other hand, will be looking to continue their excellent run throughout the season to give themselves a chance to make it to the American League Championship. After making a forgettable star to the season, things have finally started to
work out for Joe Girardi and his men. With six wins in their last eight games, the Yankees are certainly showing signs of improvement.
