Minnesota Twins name Dave Pruemer head athletic trainer, Steil Farm Director - MLB News
Minnesota Twins have named Brad Steil as their new director of Minor League Operations. Currently the post has been held by Rantz since 1986 and he will be retiring at the end of the 2012, bidding adieu to a 51-year-old association with the Twins organisation.
Some other changes were also announced. Dave Pruemer has been made the head athletic trainer, Tony Leo will be the new assistant athletic trainer and Lanning Tucker will be the rehabilitation coordinator and an assistant athletic trainer.
Steil has had a 12-year-long association with the Twins. He joined the organisation in 2001 as an administrative assistant for scouting. The Concordia College graduate had a steady growth in the organisation with regular promotions. In 2003, he became the
operations assistant. He was promoted to the post of assistant director of baseball operations until 2007, when he took a further step as the director of baseball operations, a post that he kept until now.
Dave Pruemer joined the Twins in 1995. He has replaced Rick McWane whose contract was not renewed at the end of the season. David joined as a trainer for a rookie-level club in Tennessee. He has been an assistant athletic trainer for the previous eight seasons
with the Twins. Previously he was Twins Triple-A trainer.
Lanning Tucker has served the Minnesota Twins for the last 21-years. He has been the Twins rehab coordinator and Head Minor League Trainer since 1999. He will now look after the Twins rehab program for the Major League players and will also assist the team
during all home games.
Tony Leo joined the Twins in 1997. The Ohio native was hired full time in 1998 and was a trainer for the Elizabethton Twins. He gradually rose through the ranks and was trainer for several Single-A and Double-A teams. In 2005, the MLB selected him to work
in the Arizona Fall League. He also got promoted to Triple-A Rochester the same year. Leo was the trainer for the Rochester team until 2010. In his latest assignment, he will assist head trainer Dave Pruemer in all athletic related matters and will be travelling
with the team.
The Minnesota Twins have had a major shakeup at the end of the 2012 season. Previous team staff has either been fired or have been retained with a change in their role for the team. Many new personnel have been introduced in the staff. One can hope that
the recent changes will help the team and manager Ron Gardenhire in moving the team forward.
It will be interesting to see if these new changes can bring about a positive outlook for the Twins as they work hard during the offseason to improve their game-play and on the field focus.
