Minnesota Twins’ pitcher Francisco Liriano throws in good bullpen session with team
The Minnesota Twins’ left handed pitcher, Francisco Liriano threw a bullpen session for the first time on Tuesday. Liriano has been suffering from soreness in his shoulder and has been actively working on his injury for some time now. Though he is advised
not to extend his workout plan, the bullpen ace is trying to do his best in order to be ready for his duties on opening day of the Major League Baseball season, which is scheduled to commence on the 31st of April.
Liriano worked out in front of the pitching management team that comprised of trainer, Rick McWane, and Coach, Rick Anderson. The Twins are being careful not to force Liriano into a hasty recovery. The aim of the club is to have the player ready and able
for the regular league season, ahead. Liriano’s personal aim is to strengthen his shoulder and with the bullpen session going well, there is optimism in the approach.
Manager Ron Gardenhire believes the soreness on Francisco’s arm came up due to the players’ carelessness. Liriano worked harder to get in line for the training period and that caused a set-back in the offseason period.
"They said he threw eight to 10 bullpens, and I don't think too many guys have thrown eight to 10 bullpens," Gardenhire said. "That's a lot of bullpens before Spring Training - probably wanting to make sure he was ready and probably overdid it a little bit
more than anything else."
The Twins are bringing a different approach to their strategy, this season. Most of their focus will be on offence and speedy play. The club is trying to bring back its initial advantage from 2004 - 2008, back to the surface of the format. The team is going
to face a tough American League challenge in the coming days and it appears there needs to be good concentration on the strengths of the roster that incorporates’ the club’s goals. For the management, it is important that players like Liriano get better for
the season ahead.
