Minnesota Twins secure a comfortable 4-1 win – MLB Spring Training
Minnesota Twins secured a comfortable 4-1 win against Toronto Blue Jays at the Florida Auto Exchange Stadium in Dunedin, Florida on Friday, March 30 in their Grapefruit League encounter of the 2012 Major League Baseball Spring Training Session.
The Blue Jays faced only their fifth loss of the spring. Although John Farrell will be bit disappointed with the result of the game on Friday, the Blue Jays have done themselves proud getting under the skins of their rivals. The Jays have also announced
that they will be adding Omar Vizquel to their big league roster as an infielder.
Vizquel made his MLB debut in 1989 for Seattle mariners and as many as fourteen major leaguers came into the world after his debut. Vizquel can prove to a great mentor for the some of the youngsters in Toronto Blue Jays team.
"From an age standpoint he could be my dad, I guess you could say," Lawrie said. "When you look at him you don't think, `He's still around?' because he doesn't look like he's really that old. He's been around for quite some time."
"He came in on a minor league contract telling you that he's readily able to put his ego aside. He loves the game and wants to go out and play it and he's here as a player with the side benefits of being a mentor," Farrell said. "He's fulfilled and really
exceeded all of our expectations."
The Twins have shown some great fighting spirits and dedication since the start of 2012 Spring Training. With 17 wins and 13 defeats in their thirty spring games, Ron Gardenhire and his players will be very pleased with they have managed to manufacture so
far. However, the real test lies ahead during the regular season when each game will be of significant importance.
While it may not be easy for the Twins to win the World Series title, Terry Ryan’s team can certainly make themselves proud by securing the American League Central title. With considerable success in their last ten MLB seasons, it will not be a good idea
to write of the Twins completely.
