Minnesota Twins secure a narrow 5-4 win against
Milwaukee Brewers – MLB Update
Minnesota Twins secured a narrow 5-4 win against Milwaukee Brewers at Miller Park in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on Saturday, May 19 in the second game of their three match series of the 2012 Major
League Baseball regular season.
The Twins will be very pleased with their performances in the last few games. Considering the kind of start they had made to their 2012 regular season campaign, Twins’ General Manager Terry Ryan and Manager Ron Gardenhire will be very impressed with what
he has seen from his players in their series against the Brewers.
Minnesota entered the series with a poor 12-26 record and they needed a series win desperately to change the course of their destiny. Their win against the Brewers on Saturday’s evening could be a small step towards the right direction. It will be interesting
to see if the Twins can continue their fine form in the finale as well to take a well deserved series victory.
"That was a big one today," Gardenhire said in a post game interview. "At that point, we were all yelling for him to hit a home run. We'd been there long enough. It was a pretty exciting moment for him."
"I think everybody is coming together, from our starting lineup to the pitchers to the bullpen," said outfielder Ben Revere after playing a key role in deciding the outcome of the clash. "We go to Detroit and sweep them. Hopefully, we can finish this thing
off with a sweep. It'd be good feeling. We'd be right back in this."
The Brewers, on the other hand, will have to work extremely hard on weaker areas of their game play to turn the tables in the third game. They are also looking in a poor shape with a 16-24 record.
Brian Dozier had a sacrifice fly to left in the fourth inning to break the deadlock and give the Twins a crucial 1-0 lead. Another sacrifice fly from Dozier in the sixth put Minnesota 2-1 ahead. But the star of the show was Trevor Plouffe who hit a tie breaking
run in the 11th inning to stun the Brewers.
