Minnesota Twins secure a thrilling 6-4 win over Philadelphia Phillies – MLB Spring Training

Minnesota Twins secured a thrilling 6-4 win over Philadelphia Phillies at the Bright House Networks in Clearwater, Florida on Wednesday, March 14 in their Grapefruit League clash of the 2012 Major League Baseball Spring Training Session. The Twins will be
very pleased with their performance in a competitive game, which improved their win-loss record to 7-6. Twins’ hitters made the most of available opportunities to post a decent total on the board.
The Phillies, on the other hand, will be very disappointed with the outcome of the game. Despite putting up a brave fight, they were outplayed in some important aspects of the game. It will be interesting to see if they can bounce back in their upcoming
spring games.
Roy Halladay was very frustrated with his performance as he sat in the dugout with disgusted look on his face. The starter takes even spring games very seriously.  Halladay looked a bit out of sorts from the word go. Struggling to find his length, he allowed
the Phillies’ batters to score runs freely.
Giving up five runs and seven hits including two home runs, he was clearly struggling to control his pitches. Pitching Coach Rich Dubee had a word with Halladay after he was hit for a three run homer by Chris Parmelee in the third inning. Twins’ starter
Jason marquis put up a decent show to play a key role in deciding the outcome of the game.
"A lot of positives," he said. "I'm feeling really good about my delivery and getting everything out front, and the action of the pitches, the quality of the pitches, and that's really all you can focus on right now. You only can control what you can control."
"I hate innings like that, but they help build stamina. They humble you and they push you to work," Halladay said. "It's still the consistency issues for me. The bullpen session between last start and this start was good and I addressed a lot of things."
Halladay has produced some magical performances since signing a contract with the Phillies. Over two seasons, he has an incredible 40-16 win-loss record with 2.40 ERA. His 10.56 ERA in his three spring starts certainly suggest that he is in poor form right
now. He will be looking to turn things around in the upcoming spring games.
