Minnesota Twins shutout by Chicago White Sox 0-6 – MLB Update
Minnesota Twins were shutout by Chicago White Sox 0-6 at U.S. Cellular Field in Chicago, Illinois on Wednesday, May 23 in the second game of their three match series of the 2012 Major League Baseball regular season. With their win against the Twins, the
White Sox also hit the .500 win percentage mark for the first time this season.
Manager Ron Gardenhire and General Manager Terry Ryan will be extremely disappointed with what they have seen from the Twins this season. After spending a considerable amount of cash on the players during the offseason, Ryan was hoping to sit and reap the
rewards.
However, considering Twins’ pathetic 15-28 record this season, he will be an extremely worried man these days. The Twins have very little time left to regroup themselves if they want to make it to the post season.
For the White Sox, Chris Sale proved to be very effective as he pitched seven sharp innings. Allowing just two hits with two walks and six strikeouts, he single handedly won the game for his team. Paul Konerko and Alex Rios made useful contributions with
the bat as they both hit home runs to lead the White Sox to a 6-0 win against Minnesota.
"Part of pitching is finding a groove and rolling with it," Sale said. "I felt early that I got into a groove, and A.J. (Pierzynski) back there calling one of the best games I've seen him call in a while. It was fun to be out there."
"You're always grinding out there," Konerko said. "I had one good swing the whole night, a really good swing at the end there that turns into a home run."
Twins had looked in outstanding form in the opening game when they outclassed Chicago in all departments of the game to secure a comfortable win. The fans were expecting their team to put up another similar show but the offence failed miserably and the White
Sox levelled series at 1-1. It will be interesting to see which one of these two teams rise to the occasion in decisive finale to win this series.
