Minnesota Twins starting pitcher Francisco Liriano to rest before next start – MLB News
The Minnesota Twins starting pitcher Francisco Liriano will be getting some rest in the upcoming days before his next potential start from May 1 against the Los Angeles Angels.
Team’s top management has realised the fact of giving certain players a kind of mental and physical rest in order to gain the desired output from them.
Twins' manager Ron Gardenhire and pitching head coach Rick Anderson both agree that Liriano needs some rest as he currently putting everything to achieve consistent results for his team and also for his own game.
Both have met with six year veteran, who is showing his true class here in Minnesota’s baseball franchise since 2005 and receiving appreciation from many Twins’ baseball experts.
Gardenhire said, “We're going to do what's right for him, and that's not coming out of the bullpen and getting in trouble out there -- and, if you happen to do that, making it worse. We're going to get him straightened out and let him relax a little."
Anderson said, "Sometimes he'll have that good inning, and you think, 'Wow, And then he gets a runner on, and he admits he tries to do too much instead of staying with the plan."
Even the Twins general manager Terry Ryan is also feeling the same kind of need of getting some rest for Liriano which earlier team manager and pitching coach have also suggested for him.
General Manager Terry Ryan said, “I'm not sure what the magic potion is, I'm hoping Rick and Gardy can work their magic because we need him."
Currently, Liriano is playing wonderfully with an ERA of 11.02 with 0-3 win loss record, 12 strike-outs and 2.33 WHIP.
His recent form which he is carrying from this year’s Spring Training is the main reason why the team management wants him to take little rest before the competition gets heated.
Liriano, who possesses some six years of playing experience in Major League Baseball, also carries a tremendous consistent career ERA of 4.35 along with 47-45 win-loss record, 691 strikeouts and 1.35 WHIP.
