Minnesota Twins suffer yet another setback – MLB Update
Minnesota Twins suffered yet another setback as they lost to Detroit Tigers 6-10 at Target Field in Minneapolis, Minnesota on Friday, May 25 in the opening game of their three match series of the 2012 Major League Baseball regular season.
Starting pitcher Anthony Swarzak took his fourth lost of the season after he gave up six runs on nine hits in just over three innings. It was Swarzak’s first start since April 19 and it will be interesting to see if he can put things on the right track in his next outing.
Brian Dozier had an RBI double to deep left to score the first run for the Twins. Jamey Carroll hit a sacrifice fly to centre to reduce Detroit’s lead in the fourth.  Alexi Casilla and Justin Morneau helped their team stay in the game but the Tigers held on to their four run lead to take 1-0 lead in the series.
"It's definitely frustrating," Avila said. "It's just because we know how talented we are and it's the game humbling you, whether it's an individual or a team. We're waiting to get everything going for us to go on a run."
"We have the type of offense," Avila said, "that can make up for mistakes."
"This is our team," Leyland said. "This is what we've got. That's a little bit more what we're supposed to look like. Hopefully it gets contagious and we get on a little roll."
Manager Ron Gardenhire and General Manager Terry Ryan will be extremely worried in their office these days. The Twins have been struggling to cope with the pressure since the start of the season. Their loss to the Tigers on Friday’s evening was their 30th of the season and they have managed to win just 1/3 of their games.
Twins’ inability to win games at Target Field has remained their biggest problem this season. Of course, they will be disappointed with the fact they have struggled to take advantage of the home crowd and familiar conditions. It will be extremely important for the Twins to work out a method to win home games to change the course of their destiny before the All Star Break.
