Minnesota Vikings GM Rick Spielman says no to third stint for ex-WR Randy Moss - NFL News
Former Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Randy Moss had declared his intention earlier this week that he plans to come out of retirement and back to playing in the National Football League (NFL).
The Vikings, where Moss had two stints, the second of which was marred by fights with then coach Brad Childress, have outright refused to even consider the possibility of bringing back the 35-year-old wide receiver for a third bow.
Minnesota Vikings general manager Rick Spielman talking to local reporters in Minnesota on Thursday said.
"Randy was a great player, but again our focus is more on trying to get a young team."
That statement just leaves the rest of the 32 franchises that make up the NFL to fight it out for the ex-wide receivers signature.
Moss' agent Joel Segal said that the six-time Pro-Bowler does not have any lack of admirers and he has been receiving calls personally from both head coaches and general managers inquiring about his client.
"We've had head coaches call. We've had GMs call,"
Moss had a long and illustrious career which included getting named an All-Pro five times. The wide receiver has played 13-years in the league which includes two stints with Minnesota Vikings and one each with Oakland Raiders, New England Patriots, and the Tennessee Titans.
However, throughout his career Moss was not able to lift the Super Bowl trophy though he did come close in the Patriots 2008 Super Bowl XLII defeat at the hands of New York Giants.
Wide Receiver played 202 games in his career making 954 receptions for a total gain of 14,858 yards and scoring 153 touchdowns.
The 35-year-old was first drafted in by Minnesota Vikings in the first round in 1998 and he remained with the franchise for seven years.
Moss moved onto join the Oakland Raiders in 2005 spending two seasons with the franchise and was purchased by the New England Patriots in 2007.
The wide receiver had a brilliant first season with the Patriots as the franchise went 18-0 but lost out in the Super Bowl.
After three seasons with the Patriots, Moss spent one season each with the Tennessee Titans and Minnesota Vikings.
His second spell in Minnesota ended in bad blood as the wide receiver made comments to owner Zygi Wilf that head coach Brad Childress does not deserve to be a NFL coach and that he should fire him.
