Minnesota Vikings RB Adrian Peterson will return better than ever says GM Rick Spielman - NFL News
Minnesota Vikings running back, Adrian Peterson, is one of the best backs to grace the National Football League (NFL) and the franchise is hoping that the 27-year-old returns back to the field for the first game of the new season.
Peterson is currently recovering from a torn Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injury he suffered during the Vikings week 13 35-32 loss to the Denver Broncos.
The injury looked set to keep out the running back for the long-term with some sources even doubting that Peterson could return for the new 2012-13 season.
ACL injuries tend to end careers of most football players and especially running backs that depend on their speed and strength to make plays.
However, Peterson has surprised all with his quick recovery and according to Vikings general manager, Rick Spielman, the running back will return back into the team better than ever.
“He’s not like most running backs that I’ve been around through my career,”
Adding further Spielman praised his running back’s motivation and dedication to get back into action as soon as possible.
“He is just a freak athletically and you can see that in his rehab and how quickly he’s coming back from this ACL and I know he wants to go out there and prove to everybody he’s a better Adrian Peterson than he was before the injury.”
Knowing Peterson it will not be surprising to see the running back get back to the field and perform with the same brilliance he has displayed throughout his five-year period in the league.
Even with recurring injury problems and the Lions struggles to win games, Peterson was a bright spark for the franchise.
The running back rushed for 970 yards from 208 attempts in the 12 games he played for the Vikings making this the only season of his career when he has gained less than 1000 yards.
Peterson also scored 12 touchdowns this season but his contributions were not enough to improve the Vikings record.
The franchise ended the season with just three wins just about managing to equal their franchise worst season record.
Hopefully the running back who is the face of the franchise can return back to thrill the crowd at the Metrodome once again.
