Minnesota Vikings aiming for crucial road win at Seattle Seahawks - NFL Preview
The Minnesota Vikings begin the second half of the season on the road to the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday.
Minnesota have been one of the surprise packages this season as a team that delivered just three wins in the previous season, has this year delivered some good results in the first half of the season and currently boast a 5-3 record while also challenging
for the National Football Conference (NFC) North division.
They will now look to start the second half on a positive note with a win over the Seahawks.
The Vikings suffered their biggest loss of the season in week eight against Tampa Bay Buccaneers who won 36-17 and the struggling Seahawks provide the best opportunity for Minnesota to bounce back from the defeat.
Running back Adrian Peterson will once again be the key offensive player for the Vikings as he continues his brilliant form in the current season.
Peterson once again put up 100 yards rushing against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers from 15 carries but could not help Minnesota to victory.
Victory is highly important for Minnesota in this game as five of their final eight games take place on the road and each win will count massively towards their challenge for the playoffs.
Speaking about the games ahead, Vikings linebacker Chad Greenway said:
"This set up perfectly for us to put an exclamation point on these first eight and have some days before Seattle and try to eke out a tough one on the road. Now, it definitely changes your mentality."
Seattle on the other hand have struggled in its last two games suffering two straight defeats on the road to the San Francisco 49ers and Detroit Lions.
However, at home the Seahawks are a different beast altogether and have yet to suffer a home loss this year while a win over the Vikings will see them achieve four straight home wins a feat they have yet to achieve since 2005.
Rookie quarterback Russell Wilson too feels more comfortable playing at home field with the young quarterback boasting six touchdowns and no interceptions at CenturyLink Field.
At home the Seahawks have defeated the likes of Green Bay Packers and New England Patriots from which they will derive huge confidence when the Vikings visit on Sunday.
Head coach Pete Carroll is looking for a positive start to the second half and expressed disappointment with some of the results early in the season.
He said:
"We didn't play well enough on the road in the first half, is really what it comes down to. We didn't finish the games we were close in."
This will be a big test for both sides and fans can expect a tough encounter when the Vikings and Seahawks face-off.
