Minnesota Vikings coach Leslie Frazier not done with free agency - NFL News
Minnesota Vikings fans are frustrated with what they see as their team’s lack of activity in the free agency and with a poor regular season in 2011-12 the fans anger is all the more exacerbated.
However, on Saturday, Vikings coach, Leslie Frazier, tried to calm some of the fans in an interview with the
Star Tribune.
The coach asked fans to be patient and also tried to soothe fears among the team’s fan base that tight end John Carlson will not be the franchise’s only signing during the current free agency while they would also add many players in the upcoming April drafts.
Frazier said in the interview.
"We still want to find a wide receiver that can really threaten the field vertically. We also want to improve our secondary along with our linebackers, also.”
Adding further he laid out the team’s plans for strengthening the roster.
"We're going to look to do that, we're going to look to upgrade our team. We may do it through free agency, but we're definitely going to do it through the draft, as well. But, yeah, we're still looking at some players in free agency.”
The Vikings ended the 2011-12 regular season, with a poor 3-13 record as they just about managed to match the worst season franchise record.
Since arriving in Minnesota to replace ex-coach, Brad Childress, Frazier has had an average track record which is not according to the high standards fans have come to expect from such a great franchise.
The coach is well aware of the levels of expectations and tried to calm fears that the franchise is looking to build a team for the future.
"Somebody else will be sitting in this seat if I look to the future...We need to have a good year."
The Vikings once again delivered a poor season as the team struggled with lingering injuries to star running back, Adrian Peterson, and rookie quarterback, Christian Ponder’s struggles to get acclimatised to the big league.
Minnesota won just three of its games as the team once again missed out on the playoffs and ended up bottom of the National Football Conference (NFC) North division.
