Minnesota Vikings defensive end Jared Allen’s hit not intentional – NFL News
Minnesota Vikings defensive end Jared Allen has claimed that his hit to Chicago Bears offensive lineman Lance Louis was not intentional.
According to the Associated Press, Allen apologised for this hit and said:
"Like I said before, it was never my intention to hurt a guy. I feel bad that he got hurt. That's obviously never my intention. But 'Toine's coming up the sideline to make a play. I blocked the guy and sometimes bad things happen.”
He hit Louis while making a block on an interception return by teammate Antoine Winfield during Week 12 game. Louis ended up his season by getting his ACL torn in left knee.
The National Football League (NFL) has not given any statement on this incident yet. A source from the league informed that Allen was fined $21,000 for this hit.
Pointing out Allen’s mistake, Vikings head coach Leslie Frazier said:
“You have to be careful about leaving your feet. Other than that, it was a good block. I didn’t think it was a vicious block.”
According to Frazier, Allen is a good player and he is important for the team. He knows that Allen has been missing sacks and is getting frustrated due to that. Allen wants the team to win and he will do anything for it.
Frazier told the press about his expectations for Allen:
“We need him to have a big game for us. He’s a guy that garners so much attention when he’s on the field. But it would be great to see one of those two- or three-sack games.”
Allen has made 32 tackles, seven sacks and a forced fumble this season. He has not made any sack in last three games. He is standing at 19th position among total sacks leaders this season.
He recorded 22 sacks last year, which is really great. In nine years of his career he has recorded 112 sacks.
Allen must improve his skills and release his frustration, so that he can perform well in upcoming games.
Vikings have won six and lost five games and they are ranked 3rd in National Football Conference (NFC) North.
