Minnesota Vikings outclass Detroit Lions 34-24 – NFL Week 10 Recap
Detroit Lions lost by 24-34 against Minnesota Vikings in Week 10 game, on Sunday, November 11, 2012, at Mall of America Field, Minneapolis, MN.
It was an interesting game between the rivals of National Football Conference (NFC) North.  Vikings took the lead 7-0 when rookie wide receiver Jarius Wright received a three-yard pass from quarterback Christian Ponder and scored first touchdown of the game
in the first quarter.
Following the touchdown, Vikings kicker Blair Walsh scored a 48-yard field goal and increased the lead to 10 points.
In the second quarter, Lions kicker Jason Hanson kicked a 41-yard field goal and scored three points for the team. Later, Walsh kicked a 23-yard field goal and gained three more points for Vikings.
In the third quarter, Walsh scored a 23-yard field goal and led the team to 16-3. At 02:55, Lions tight end Brandon Pettigrew scored a touchdown after receiving a 16-yard pass from quarterback Matthew Stafford, and took the score to 10-16.
At the beginning of the fourth quarter, Vikings tight end Kyle Rudolph received a 20-yard pass from Ponder to score their second touchdown, followed by a two-point conversion and led the team to 24-10.
Later, Lions wide receiver Titus Young received a one-yard pass from Stafford and scored a touchdown, increasing his team’s score to 17 points.
Vikings running back Adrian Peterson ran for 61 yards and scored a touchdown. Walsh then kicked a 33-yard field goal and took the score to 34-17.
Peterson rushed 171 yards on 27 attempts, which was a good comeback after his injury.
Towards the end of the fourth quarter, Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson scored the last touchdown of the game, after receiving an 11-yard pass from Stafford and the game ended at 34-24 in favour of Vikings.
Ponder was 24 of 32 for 221 yards and two touchdowns. Talking about his performance in the game, Ponder said:
"Just going out and playing without worrying about the consequences of your throws. Go out and let it rip, that's what I did."
Vikings head coach Leslie Frazier said about his teams’ performance:
"If you want to be a good football team, these are the games that you really have to win."
Johnson seemed disappointed with their performance, he said:
"I feel like we didn't play our best. Just speaking for myself: There's a lot more we could put on the field."
Meanwhile, Stafford said:
"We were backed up and going 80-plus, it felt like, the whole game. That's something that's going to be tough against a defence like that."
Lions will play their next game against Green Bay Packers, while Vikings have their bye next week.
