Minnesota Vikings performance report – NFL Special Part 2
In this part, we will look into Vikings’ performance from Week 6 to Week 10.
Week 6: Washington Redskins
It was Vikings’ second lost on road. Redskins’ defence forced three turnovers in a 38-26 win.
Vikings kicker Blair Walsh scored three field goals, while quarterback Christian Ponder again showed his performance in the fourth quarter when Redskins were leading with 31-12.
Ponder threw two touchdown passes and increased the score to 26-31.
Vikings’ defence failed to stop Redskins’ rookie quarterback Robert Griffin III who scored three touchdowns in the game.
Week 7: Arizona Cardinals
Vikings got fourth consecutive at home when they defeated Cardinals by 21-14.
Vikings offence seemed in good form. Running back Adrian Peterson finally got his rhythm back as he scored a touchdown in the first quarter.
Ponder threw a 3-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Percy Harvin in second quarter of the game. He completed 8 of 17 passes for 58 yards with two interceptions.
Vikings defence forced two turnovers to Cardinals, Vikings rookie safety Harrison Smith scored a touchdown while returning an interception for 31 yards in third quarter.
Week 8: Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Buccaneers beat Vikings, 36-17, handing the latter their first defeat at home.
Ponder completed 19 of 35 passes for 251 yards and scored one touchdown and an interception. He threw an 18-yard touchdown pass to Harvin in the second quarter and started their score at 7-13.
Peterson rushed for 64 yards in the third quarter when Buccaneers were leading with 30-17. He carried the ball 15 times for 123 yards in the game.
Buccaneers’ defence forced Vikings for two fumbles and an interception.
Week 9: Seattle Seahawks
It was Vikings’ second consecutive defeat as Seahawks overpowered them by 30-20.
Peterson played really well against the Seahawks. He started the game by rushing 1 yard towards the end zone, and scored another touchdown in the second quarter.
Walsh scored two field goals in the game. However, the quarterback was unable to perform well. Ponder was sacked four times in the game. He completed 11 of 22 passes for 63 yards with an interception. It was his worst game in the season.
Week 10: Detroit Lions
After losing two games in a row, Vikings defeated Lions in their second meeting of the season, 34-24. They performed really well throughout the game.
Ponder started the lead by throwing a 3-yard pass to rookie receiver Jarius Wright in the first quarter. Walsh again played a great role in their victory. He scored three field goals of 23, 23 and 33 yards in second third and fourth quarters respectively.
In the beginning of the fourth quarter Ponder threw a 20-yard pass to Rudolph and scored a touchdown. Peterson also scored on a 61-yard rushing attempt in the fourth quarter.
