Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson will be active in practice session – NFL News
After going through a long and bitter offseason, Minnesota Vikings’ premier running back Adrian Peterson will finally have some snaps during practice session.
This was said by Vikings’ offensive coordinator Bill Musgrave on Tuesday, August 14, 2012. He explained that Peterson will be taking a handful of snaps during a 7-on-7 and 11-on-11 drills.
Vikings’ camp will be excited to have their four-time Pro Bowler back on the field. He will gradually be given more and more time in the field.
Peterson was taken off the physically unable to perform (PUP) list on Sunday, as he had his first practice in seven months.
Meanwhile, Peterson himself feels very optimistic about getting fit enough to play in the season opener. Talking to 1500ESPN.com, Peterson said:
"Despite what everyone else had to say, that was my vision. I seen a vision. I knew it was going to be a journey, a path, to get closer to that vision, and I'm closer.”
Peterson’s knee was injured while playing against Washington Redskins in the 2011 season. Peterson went through a reconstructive surgery to repair his torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) and medial collateral ligaments (MCL).
Talking about his return, Peterson said:
"I see it. It's closer now. It was far away in the beginning, but I've been working hard and just moving forward. So, hopefully, here in a couple weeks -- here in a couple weeks, not hopefully -- that vision will be right there in front of me in my lap.
So, I'm looking forward to it."
There are some concerns about pushing Peterson on the field to early which may lead to the recurrence of the same injury during the season, if not before that.
Peterson will not be able to play in the Vikings preseason game against Buffalo Bills on Friday, August 17. The running back seemed satisfied with the output in his first outing in seven months. He said:
“For the first day, it was good."
