Minnesota Wild going in full force for Zach Parise according to ex-GM Lou Nanne -NHL Update
Minnesota Wild fans might be just getting some ray of hope for their team’s improvement as former National Hockey League (NHL) franchise general manager, Lou Nanne, termed the team going in full force to grab New Jersey Devils’ captain, Zach Parise, during
the hot offseason.
In an interview with KFAN Sports Radio, the former GM discussed what fans can expect for their Minnesota Wild team over the lengthy offseason and surprisingly, Zach Parise just could be a new addition on the squad.
According to Nanne, “No one is going to outbid the Wild” for Zach Parise, which would certainly be an interesting situation seeing how many clubs would be going all out for the top-level player when he becomes an unrestricted free agent.
“I had dinner with [Wild owner] Craig Leipold on Wednesday night,” Nanne said. “I know Chuck Fletcher and Leipold really want Parise, and what Craig told me is how hard he’s going to go after him, and the kind of money he’s going after him [with] — I don’t
see how Parise’s not coming here.”
“I can tell you this: No one is going to outbid the Wild. So if Parise goes somewhere else, you can bet he’s going for less money. What I said is, ‘the kind of money that they’re going to offer him, he might as well just come here and own the team and in
his later years, win the Stanley Cup as an owner,” Nanne added.
While Zach Parise has indicated during the past few days after they were eliminated in Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Finals by Los Angeles Kings, that he wants to stay and play in New Jersey, the Devils are facing some financial issues and will not be able to
guarantee him anything for the time being.
Obviously, New Jersey Devils do not want to let go of Zach Parise, but offering him an contract of his level will just be something they cannot afford at the moment, giving other teams a huge advantage.
For now, there is no telling where and when Zach Parise will go but one thing is for sure and that is Minnesota Wild want him and want him bad.
