Minnesota Wild host the Colorado Avalanche in their fifth meeting this season

Another one of the games of Wednesday will be the Minnesota Wild playing host to the Colorado Avalanche. The two teams are scheduled to face each other six times during the course of the season. Out of these six meetings, four have already taken place and
both teams have won twice.
Colorado Avalanche thrashed Minnesota Wild in their first game of the season scoring goals regularly and winning the game 7-4 in the end. The last game between the two sides took place on the 3rd February 2011 which saw Minnesota Wild edge out
with a slender one goal lead and winning 4-3 in the end.
Both teams haven’t been in the best of forms recently. This has been the case for most of the season but this match is going to be interesting to watch as both teams will be looking for a win for a place in the play-offs. As for now, Minnesota Wild is in
the 10th spot and Colorado Avalanche is in the 12th spot with the last play-off position being the eighth spot.  With both teams outside this they would be looking to gain on the position as they are pretty much even.
Colorado Avalanche would have fancied their chances of winning with the addition of Peter Frosberg in their squad but he failed to get the visa so he won’t be here for the game. The other side of the story is that both teams have had developed quite a rivalry
recently so it would very interesting and entertaining to watch the game as both teams square off against each other.
Colorado Avalanche is going through a drought in terms of goals scored as they haven’t been able to match other teams in the league offensively. Colorado Avalanche also face the threat of coming up with their fifth straight loss if they lose this game. The
last game which they lost 3-0 against the Phoenix Coyotes saw Avalanche making only 26 goal attempts during the game.
"I really don't understand and I don't think anyone knows what's going on right now," said All-Star Matt Duchene, who has 2 points in 10 games. "We get chances and they're just not going in for us right now. It's very discouraging."
Colorado Avalanche has played 53 games in the season so far out of which they have won 25 games in regulation time, 6 games in overtime and scored 56 points. On the other hand, Minnesota Wild has played 52 games in the season so far out which they have won
27 games in overtime, 5 games in overtime and scored 59 points.
Minnesota Wild also lost their last game against the Phoenix Coyotes 1-0 but they have been somewhat better than their opponents for the night. Minnesota Wild have won five of their last seven games and brought back hopes of a play-off spot after a disappointing
first half of the season.
"We had our chances," Wild goaltender Niklas Backstrom  said of Saturday's game. "We gave up the one goal and it was a tight game. One bounce there, one bounce here and we could have tied it."
Minnesota Wild definitely has an edge over their opponents for the night and there is big chance that they win the match.
