Minnesota Wild lock on Zach Parise, Ryan Suter in biggest Free Agency signing yet -NHL Update
Minnesota fans can expect their favourite team to become the best in the National Hockey League (NHL) during the next 2012-2013 regular season after the Wild made the biggest signings of the free agency yet by locking on unrestricted free agents Zach Parise
and Ryan Suter.
Zach Parise had been on the Wilds radar for quite a while now after it was learned of New Jersey unable to hold on to the player due to various financial constraints, but signing Ryan Suter came as a surprise to many since he had been viewed to be the next
Nicklas Backstrom for Detroit Red Wings.
The top New Jersey Devils forward and Nashville Predators defenseman signed on to Minnesota with a 13-year contract, giving them both a cool $98 million over the years for one of the biggest deals in the NHL today. Minnesota had the money and they have certainly
used it wisely.
Both deals are identical as it will give the players a whopping $12 million in salary annually for the next two years and drop down to a reasonable $1 million in the final two during the 2023-2024 and 2024-2025 seasons.
Without a doubt, the Wild were excited to have them secured on the team as the franchise announced via Twitter, “We Got ‘EM!”.
General Manager of the Minnesota team, Chuck Fletcher, termed it to be “a great day in the history of the Minnesota Wild.”
Even Zach Parise and Ryan Suter are excited to play with each other after an intense rivalry between New Jersey Devils and Nashville Predators.
"We kept in touch throughout this whole thing and we decided that we thought for both of us that the best fit would be Minnesota," Parise said in a conference call. "We're excited that it worked out and we get a chance to play with each other."
Parise, who is also a native of Minneapolis, Minnesota, took New Jersey Devils to the Stanley Cup Finals this year, but lost in game-six to the Los Angeles Kings. Ryan Suter, who belongs to Madison, Wisconsin, also is regarded to be one of the best defenders
in the league and can also put up the numbers.
