  1. Take a look at this website, it shows you the three most common ways to hook a minnow. I like hooking through the back myself when still fishing. This allows it to swim naturally, and it's just a little harder for the fish to steal it.

Since they are live bait, you leave them out for a while. They will swim around naturally on their own, which will attract the fish. There is no need to practice retrieve fishing with a live minnow. The best way to catch crappie with a minnow is to cast near fallen trees with a live minnow and just wait. If there are crappie in that area, then they will take the bait.

Minnows will work for white bass as well. Actually the two best live baits to use for white bass are typically minnows and nightcrawlers. The same goes for crappie, even though they will also take jigs, spinners, and crankbaits. Just remember to use small hooks.

I hope this helps. Tight lines!!

  2. Normally minnows do not fall off the hook unless the cast is abruptly stopped. This will cause the hook to tear through the skin and the minnow to go flying.

You can fish the minnow under a bobber or float and this will indicate the bite you've been waiting to get. As stated, you can hook the minnow through the lips or through the back behind the dorsal fin with both methods working well for the fish you are after. Just don't use too large of a hook size so the minnow can swim around. leave the minnow out for 10 to 15 minutes and if you do not get any bites reel in and cast somewhere else. Try and cast near some form of cover as fish like to hang around and use cover for feeding. Tight lines!

  3. stick the hook about halfway down and in the middle of the fish.

you just leave it out there and about every 45 mins. check to see if it is still alive.

    bass usually do like minnows.

  4. Hook them through the back

  5. If you don't know then you don't use.Why must you use a minnow? Is it that somebody said so then you ask him.You are afraid of your friends laughing at you for not knowing how to use a minnow? Then don't go.

  6. 1- put the hook in its mouth and out by its back heres a picture to help you ! the picture is with a fake minnow but its the same thing

2-Bass loves minnows, and frogs!!  and will also bite worms but not as much as moving bait!

  7. If you are fishing in a lake, hook the minnow under the dorsal fin, just beneath the spine. if you are fishing in where there is current, hook the minnow through the lips or eyes (eyes will hold the minnow on the hook better).Make sure the barb on the hook is nice and pointy. They should be good for live bass, as long as they are nice and lively. Save the dead one so you can use them for catfish bait.

  8. just hook them under the dorsal fin and don't fish to deep, use a bobber let it set for a while if nothing, then move it over a ways and wait till the bobber goes under before you set the hook---ugru

  9. cast them out and leave them. until you think its time to check your bait or you get a bite hook them in the top of the back just under the dorsal fin. all predatory fish eat minnows
