Minor League Brawl?

Question

Someone has got to talk about this brawl that happened between the Dayton Dragons and the Peoria Chiefs. I just watched the Chiefs play in Fort Wayne this weekend so it hits close to home.

Can you believe that the pitcher would hurl a fast ball at the opposing players' dugout?! I am glad that this didn't happen at the game I was at (with my kids there). What do you tell them??

My question is...What do you think that pitcher's punishment should be? I think they should ban him from all baseball. Why risk having this happen again? Pete Rose was banned for life for gambling of all things. Personally, I would say that assault is worse!

I think he should be banned from baseball for life. He could have killed someone.

There's not much left this season, so perhaps the rest of this as well as next season. If something like this happens again, he should be out for life.

Personally, I don't think Pete Rose deserved to be banned for gambling.

I think this pitcher made a mistake.  He should be suspended for the remainder of the year and be allowed to play next year.  However, he should be on some type of probation where, should he act in this way again, he will immediately receive a lifetime ban.

He needs to be banned for a very long time if not for life, it is unbelievable that someone would do something so moronic, something has to be done about htis team though, they have had run in after run in this season with brawls, manager fights.....I can not believe that the Cubs have allowed everything to continue as it has this season, it is hard to fathom that Ryne Sandberg would be the Manager of a team that acted in this fashion (although Ryno was not in town that night!)

It's tough to forgive that. His intent was to injur. I've been in the heat of the moment and wanted to fight but I'm never tried to purposely injur someone who had nothing to do with why I was upset. He tossed a fastball (and he's a pitcher, with mroe accuracy and speed on his toss than most do) into the apposing dugout...for what? As a pitcher his throw has to be looked at the same as if a hitter used a bat. I think he  should absolutely be given a lifetime bad.

yes people make mistakes, but would you give another chance to a marine who killed a man in a bar fight when he knew he had the training and capability to do so? No. That man would be in military prison for the rest of his life.

Frankly thats disgusting. Never should a player deliberately hurl a ball into the dugout. When he throws at a batter, the batter is wearing protection and anticipating the pitch, sitting in the dugout, you are not protected, you aren't anticipating a pitch and there are fans behind you.

The first thing, is this guy needs to foot the bill for the injured fan. From the first medical bill all the way to any pain medications necessary after. Secondly he should be suspended indefinitely for inappropriate behavior. unsportsmanlike conduct, and misrepresenting baseball. This is sick and disguting.

It shows a complete lack of class and ethics.

That was just stupid.  Having a fist fight with the other team is one thing that probably goes back as far as the game of baseball itself (although that doesn't make it right).  But, just like the rest of society, it seems like certain players are unable to control their emotions on any level.  First, this pitcher had already hit 2 players, one in the head, which was pretty obviously intentional and should have been ejected before this fight ever happened.  Then, when he threw at the dugout, he obviously wanted to do serious bodily harm to one of the players and ended up injuring a fan.  He could just as easily have hit a child in the head or face and killed them.    That is not excusable.    I think he should be banned from baseball for life and I think he should do at least some jail time.
