Personally, with just a 5card minor, my partner and I would add up the points and bid in NT. A 5 card minor isn't really worth showing and the length is just as nice in NT. If it's a longer suit (6 or 7 of a minor), you'd want to show the suit.

If you're really broke and/or if you're playing weak NT openings, you might want to look for a minor suit to run to, but how to do that would need to be set up between you and your partner.
