  1. I'm not a minority, but my opinion is yet more blather from a bigot.

I recently read a long-term study of people who benefitted from affirmative action in colleges.

Beneficiaries not only did as well as their peers, but were more likely to give back, of their money and their time. They felt they owed it; they wanted to contribute to a society that had given them a chance; extend that chance to young people of their communities.

The Vietnamese discussed came over in large intact groups of entire families and communities.

In the US, black comminuties have been shattered generation after generation for hundreds of years, almost without a break from forces too huge for the communities and families to fight.

It's simply not true that blacks all fail. The black middle class has been growing for generations.

But it's wrong to keep that growth as SLOW as possible, rather than doing what we should have been doing all along.

Those who've grown up in impoverished areas, in crappy schools, with massive death tolls among the young, from which they see that few escape do NOT get a fair break.

Anyone who can't understand that just isn't trying.
